Frequently asked

What's a "query"?

One MCP tool call equals one query. Calling query_production with several filters still counts as one query, regardless of how many rows it returns.

What happens when I hit my limit?

The server returns a 429 Too Many Requests with JSON-RPC error code -32029. The error message includes the exact UTC time the limit resets.

Why is execute_sql Pro-only?

Curated tools cover ~95% of use cases and are safer. execute_sql is a power-user escape hatch — it lets you write arbitrary read-only SQL across the full schema, which we reserve for paying customers because it's costlier to support and run.

Can I get a discount for academic / non-profit use?

Yes. Email mcp@energetica.ar with your institution and we can usually work something out — we offer free Analyst-tier access to universities and researchers studying Argentine energy.

Where's my data hosted?

The MCP server runs on a Linode VPS in the US, behind Nginx + Let's Encrypt SSL. The DuckDB database is rebuilt daily from a TypeScript pipeline that ingests CKAN, EIA, FRED, Comtrade, World Bank and CAMMESA.
